After a leisurely breakfast we explore Santorini, and you soon realise why this island is often voted one of the best places to visit in the world.
Travel to the iconic village of Oia, renowned for its stunning whitewashed buildings, blue-domed churches, and breathtaking views of the caldera. Enjoy a short tour of this picturesque location and take in its charm, continue to the traditional village of Megalochori, where a brief tour showcases its quaint streets, historic architecture, and authentic Cycladic ambiance.
We finish our half day tour with a visit to a brewery factory, which was set up in 2011. Here we can quench our thirst with the locally produced beer, which uses home grown ingredients and imported malt from Bosnia. You can find these donkey-themed beers in local restaurants and bars.
If you prefer to drink wine, then the island’s well-established wine industry, will offer you a wider selection to choose from, as there are many vineyards that you can visit on Santorini. The island’s volcanic surroundings have made it possible for locals to create extensions to their houses dug either sideways or downward into the rock and pumice, creating great insulation chambers (cool in summer and warm in winter), which are nowadays used as wine cellars.
After our lunch at a local restaurant, you have the afternoon free to either visit a vineyard or why not visit the more remote beaches at Thermi and Plaka, with their hot springs and therapeutic waters. They are accessible only on foot or by boat.
